Saturday Night Out

It has been a fine weekend so far, good enough that it isn't even raining. My friends and I had planned some time ahead to try out mussels somewhere around London and decided it shall be dinner for today. Note that whenever there's an outing involving too many people, there's always chances of some individuals turning it down or pull out for some reasons, but it's a good thing most of us made the trip eventually. The remaining 10 of us took the tube to near central London and took off at Holborn station and started hunting for a restaurant called - Belgo -. I guess it's pretty famous for it's mussel dishes as there were already many patrons who're seated well before its even dinner time. There is also bar in there that serves alcohol beverages. We made it in the queue and waited for few minutes before being ushered to the table for 10. The ambient was comfortable, classy but not way classy to feel awkward enjoying the mussels with bare hands. So we each ordered a different sets of mussel dishes and this was how it is when served...这也就只其中一份而已啦...

Of course, I wouldn't be able to savour all of those since I am allergic towards most seafood...which meant I wouldn't dare to test my luck on those, although I sinfully tried a couple of them. It's really not exceptionally tasty at all to be honest. I ordered some non-seafood for the night and the rest of them enjoyed chatting away while sucking off the meat from shells :) Yes these are worth a first try but not that commendable really, no finger licking good for this. I personally prefer the frites and the potatoes ^^;; they're okay. Slightly guilty after that....I meant that I've just effortlessly gained some pounds after trying so fucking hard to lose them instead!! *sigh* There's really no easy way out ....

Apart from that, it was a relaxing evening with my classmates nevertheless. They're all so bubbly, funny, joyful and very entertaining. Can't wait for our little CNY get-together also known as 春节 to my Chinese friends. We make such perfect "faux" family members for each other now that we're all away from home. I'm really so lucky to have them :)

On another note, I can't believe that my friend had just confessed that he's had dog meat back in his country and on top of that - it's delicious!! There is really no way to talk myself out of this, it's just too wrong in every way no matter how I see it. -.- what a revelation haha...but still no. Things like this should stay unlawful and illegal everywhere and for ever.

我在想啊 一个人保密能保到什么程度呢? 就算要背着原则 他是否还得选择保存秘密呢?

Is there ever a possibility not wanting to know a secret? Different people have different approach of handling secrets. Personally, if I'm burdened with secret that has something to do with another being, I'd most likely act ignorant about it because I just have no other ways of dealing with it. Some people go about being skeptic about keeping one but really, it's hard to stay neutral or unaffected once the secret is broken to you.

I may be a good listener, but....

Convey feelings across

今早一起,我头就开始痛了。最近不知道是不是天气转化的关系我都觉得身体不舒服,好像在发出日气一样。所以现在除了喝水还是喝水。

There is a  friend mine who told me that she thinks that I am very lucky that I'm able to spread my wings and settle in the largest island of the British Isle, and had hoped so much she could have done that as well. To be honest, I don't know how to respond to that. First of all, yes it is true that I am very fortunate and there is no way I could have denied that. However, no one really understand that a lot of changes took place right after my father's demised 3 years back. I do believe if my father is still around, I would have ended up with the alternative instead - most likely to get a job and start a career then, afterall I've already earned my degree. What happen then? My father's elder brother, also an uncle, decided that he should take over and  bear the responsibility of supporting us financially in education wise all through the end, which in his opinion is better off to have earned a Masters degree (most preferably in the UK) while we're still capable of continuing the conquest. Having said that, most people would get idea that I would prefer how everything has turned out to be right now - my father dead and I get to go study abroad, and sincerely I know where it all comes from really. It does pain me to get others to think that way.

I, for one, would have never asked for anything like that to happen even if there is likely no chances of continuing my Masters degree at all right from the start. I would wanted more than anything else for my father to live healthily and happily at least until the older live has taken a toll on him instead. Sadly, none of that is ever possible now that he's left us but I know that if there's anyone my father wants to see succeed - it would would be us, the three of us. Yes the idea of studying abroad has actually come as an opportunity, more like an option for me, which in another way of putting it, I had the liberty to actually say no to the offer. Yet, I taken it up much to my mother's dismay. My mum is someone who's never like to owe anyone a favor, much less a favor this big considering that I'll be fully under the financial care of my uncle once I'm away from home. So why did I insist? Of course, with my mum acting that way, I've had hell of a time struggling with my decision but the answer to that question is I want to know what I am made of inside. See I am not sure if I can explain everything in words - I want to know what I am capable of achieving, not necessarily a good result but more than that in life. The height of life is achieved through repeated self-transcendences. I would never be able to test it if I rushed into getting a job when I am not yet through getting perspectives as a student. I told myself I'd be strong and I love my mother for being so supportive now that I have made my decision.

I believe smile is contagious and I believe people do get stronger when they overcome hurdles wearing it. The smile - it doesn't mean you trying to hide something bad, it just meant that you're already over it.

很多时候,我隐藏在心里的悲哀是不适合跟别人分享的。Reason being that its not going to make me feel any better because it would be impossible for the other person to feel the same way as I have. So why bother saying it.

所以嘛,当自己不开心时就该要懂得怎样克服它。也许换个环境会对心情好一些。再换个角度去看事情会让你发现原来的问题并没有那么沉重。看每一件事情时可不要太极端。Every cloud has a silver lining.

Take care.

Things I do on a random Monday

There are technically couple of things going on today... let me put them all together.

First things first, I was woken up by random whatsapp message tone, feeling groggy but heck I woke up pretty late this morning, which is not normal as I've always presume my biological alarm works just fine, guess its not happening today. After snuggling on the bed for a reasonable amount time (there's no morning class anyway), I got up and conduct my daily morning-routine, very mundane as usual and then out of the blue I just decided that I should check out the apartments for rent around east London. If anyone's curious, me and my three other friends have decided that we're going to move out of student living halls once our accommodation contract terminates in early June this year. The new place - it will be less expensive, although still no where near c-h-e-a-p and definitely much cozier in an apartment with friends.I was initially hunting for 2-bedrooms apartment but seeing there's no way anyone's willing to share the bed... I ended up with this option

This is where I stumble upon the best option so far. Yes, note the price up there.

A 4-bedroom apartment - the different views and rooms.

To be honest, it definitely looks like a place up for the take with that kind of price. There is no doubt that all of are feeling awed and impressed just by looking at these and trust me we are so ready to proceed to have it booked! Of course it is well too early for that to happen. So far, no action has been taken except that we're planning to take the next step to ring the person up to get a better picture of the whole thing and other stuff we needed straightening out. That whole hunting-and-discussing thing took me like whole morning which then I started to work on my seminar homework.

Oh, it's the usual stuff, we get weekly assignment to solve questions regarding the previous lectures. It will hopefully help rile us up and do us some good before the midterm test that is taking place on the second day of Chinese New Year. Can't be help since I'm in a whole different planet now living a different calendar days that states that only any bank holiday is an official day off for everyone, aside from Christmas. Even our supposedly Reading week flies through and turns it's back on us like freaking nobody else's business. Depressing. At least it's comforting to know that I don't have to attend classes every single day (in normal weekdays). I time-planned all the stuff I need to do whenever I'm off class you see, including time spend on slacking, sports and entertainments though I don't particularly feel pleasant to have to visit the library on and off on a regular basis. It's definitely the last place that'd ever come into my mind for me to get motivated working in all sorts of ways.

Speaking of all these, I think the irregular meals that I am having is starting to have an effect on my body. For the past few days, I haven't had a decent meal (or any meal at all that I can remember) for various reasons. I'm starting to feel that I am not taking a good care of myself enough. My vision strayed alot and I can't seem to be concentrating very much - some occurrences of headaches and light headed as well. Basically, I'm losing my focus very easily... not that I needed any to blog these shits anyway :DD. I'm thinking to get something proper to have for lunch tomorrow before my class the evening. This is all so wrong, I wonder how did I get so much into this diet-frenziness... so much in the wrong way! My mum does not need to know this however ^^;

Temperature in London these days is rising slowly and when it gets to an agreeable temperature, I supposed it will time to get working out again, go sweating and running or even strolling...? Anything to get my bum out and about.

It's getting late and time for shower....
Loggin' off

Ushering in 2013

Happy 2013 peeps!!
Firstly, yes I am back to blogging again (probably not for good) and I thought 2013 shall be a good year to start it off.  Since I am going for a change, I have also switched to a new url to start everything from afresh. Note that I do still have my old blog post with me for some purpose, for I just never want to remove them all. Anyway, I will need more time trying out new stuff and fiddling with a whole new dashboard, widgets and what not since I’ve never been friendly with blogging for a long time since. I shall also try to update as frequent as I am capable to.

Next, many of you would have known that I’ve flown off to London and in fact, I already settled down much comfortably here for the last 4.5 months. Coming all the way to UK has been the biggest decision I’ve ever made, considering the fact that I am here under the sponsorship of my uncle. Frankly, not everyone back then supported my decision for reasons but it has always been a dream of mine to be able to study abroad some day. Yes, somehow I did hesitate a little thinking that this may not be the right time to pack my bags and leave just yet … but the thought of experiencing something so new, venturing into a whole different continent and seeing for myself everything I have thus far pictured in my head is way too alluring. The fact that I am now in the country of the whites, adapting to the western cultures and spending my first wintertime is all too surreal. Truth is, I can never express all the exact feelings that I’m filled with and just for the sake of sharing, I was ecstatic! thankful! overwhelmed! in short.  :)

Like many instances I had had leaving home for either short or a long while, nothing beats the warmth and the comfort at home (and food nonetheless). However, everyone is bound to go away from home some day and I believe it is essentially a growing-up process, regardless of the distance. Only when one moves away from the very comfort zone, that he or she will learn things through the hard way in order to understand how it feels like going through rough patches. More importantly, it is not about losing the root of my existence but instead to enrich my living experience, and then to realize how amazing it feels like to step home again after every adventure.

It is still a wonder to me that many of my friends/relatives never seem to know the programme that I enrolled for, despite the fact that I have been repeating it countless of times before and after I got accepted in QM. It gets more and more vexing when people keep asking the same questions over and over again haha ( seriously, don’t ask if you are never gonna remember it! ). Just kidding ~ Then again, why would anybody care ^o^

Lastly, Chinese New Year is around the corner and obviously I won’t be there to celebrate it with my loved ones (what a bummer). Sadly, I am missing all the good food and good vibes back home but I am sure everyone will still kill the day all the same like the years before with much joy and laughter and jolly good festive spirit!  Even I get so hyped knowing that all of them are getting prepared for the big day next month. I wonder if anyone will still distribute angpow to me in my absence ;X

This is a pretty lengthy post for a first. I shall end it here.
Will keep everyone posted of future events and whatsoever that interests me at all.

Adieus! Happy weekend!
